The YSR Congress camp in Andhra Pradesh is still in delusion about the kind of electoral mandate that was delivered in the recent AP polls. While a few YCP leaders, including Roja, argue that EVM tampering was done, others say AP will go to early polls due to the Jamili elections. In the end, YCP is doing everything but assessing the one-sided verdict against them and learning from their mistakes.
Even today, a similar narrative was carried out by the no.2 leader in YCP after YS Jagan himself, Vijayasai Reddy. While speaking at a YCP meeting in Tirupati today, Vijayasai made a big comment about the coming elections.
Vijayasai Reddy said that the incumbent NDA government’s tenure will be cut short by the Jamili elections. “Be prepared YCP cadres. The next elections are coming soon. By the end of 2027, AP will go to polls again” Vijayasai stated. This was a clear attempt to energize the party cadres who are still gutted about the 2024 electoral defeat.
While it is a fact that the nation could well be going to early polls, in tune with the NDA’s “One Nation One Election” campaign, the fact that YCP is placing so much emphasis on the same is looking incoherent. After failing to secure even opposition status, after Jagan’s so-called “Button-pressing rule”, the party leaders trying to trick cadres into thinking that the fate will be any different in a couple of years time isn’t boding well.
