The NDA government in Andhra Pradesh has been nabbing social media abusers and hatemongers at the rate of knots and this instigated a reaction from YSR Congress. A PIL was filed against the arrests of social media abusers at the AP high court and the case came to a hearing today.
Interestingly, the Court opined that there is nothing wrong in taking adequate action against those who abuse profusely and cross the line on social media platforms. The court pointed out that there are certain users who troll the judges and also the judiciary system which needs to be curbed.
The High Court mentioned that they can restrict the police from working against social media abuse at large. If any action is to be taken, it must be done at an individual capacity and the victim must approach the court with a case. There is no possibility of accepting a PIL in this regard and stopping police action, at a larger capacity.
