In what can be the largest single Foreign Direct Investment in the history of Telangana state, Amazon has agreed to invest a whopping Rs 20,761 crore ( USD 2.77 Billion) in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is going to launch AWS Cloud and set up multiple data centers in Telangana. The AWS is going to start its operations in Hyderabad by Mid 2022. The proposed AWS region in Hyderabad is going to be the second in the country after Mumbai and it is the 11th in Asia. AWS Hyderabad will have three availability zones. According to reports, the three availability zones are reported to come up at Shamshabad, Chandanvelli and Maheshwaram.
IT, Industries, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KTR wrote, “Happy to announce the largest FDI in the history of Telangana! After a series of meetings, AWS has finalized investment of ₹20,761 Cr ($ 2.77 Bn) to set up multiple data centers in Telangana. The @AWSCloud Hyd Region is expected to be launched by mid 2022.” Jayesh Ranjan, the Principal Secretary of the Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Departments congratulated the team. He wrote, “Congratulations to the team in IT Dept and @TSIICLtd for assisting AWS at various steps.”
