Over the last few days, Tirupati has been the focal point of several discussions in the Telugu states. The stampede situation for the Tirumala Vaikunta darshan tickets resulted in the death of six individuals and this set off a political discourse.
Interestingly, enough, the deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan stated that the TTD chairman BR Naidu must apologise for what had happened as this is pretty much a courtesy thing to do.
When this point was raised in front of Naidu, he calmly dragged it off by saying that there is no need to overreact to what happened. This in turn led to a controversy of sorts. But Naidu was quick to clarify that he did not be little Pawan Kalyan or anything, and what he said, was just a generic statement.
Quickly and effectively put an end to the political narrative that was being spun by a section of YSR Congress leaders who were using Tirupati for political mileage.
It was wise on the part of both the deputy CM and the TTD board chairman to let go off the verbal side of the issue and instead focus on what’s more important.
As per the latest updates from Tirumala, the shrine is operating with peak capacity in the ongoing Vaikunta period. The arrangements have been fine tuned and every single effort is being taken to de-escalate the issue.
As per reports, the Darshan timing has been been largely cut down as only limited number of tickets are being issued and every step of the Darshan is being planned very well. The food and water arrangements to the pilgrims in the queue complex is also said to be handled with great caution.
It is good that the senior statesman BR Naidu ended the verbal confrontation that is of no use to anyone and instead got things done on the business end of things by streamlining the operations in Tirumala.
