The TDP high command has finally put an end to the demands seeking minister Nara Lokesh be made the Deputy Chief Minister. In the last few days, the demand for Lokesh to be elevated to the position of Deputy CM has gained much mileage with Deputy Speaker K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju and Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy voicing support to it.
However, the TDP high command has issued an order to desist from the ‘Lokesh Deputy Chief Minister’ campaign by the party cadre.
As Lokesh is the son of TDP president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, some party leaders tried to put forward their view of the minister to be elevated as the Deputy CM but Jana Sena president K. Pawan Kalyan is already serving as the Deputy CM, as part of the coalition government’s pact.
In politics, it is common for CMs to project their progeny as their successors. However, Chandrababu Naidu, by directing the party cadre to abstain from the ‘Lokesh Deputy CM’ campaign, has proved that becoming a political leader is not a birthright but a status to be earned through dedicated service to the people and commitment for development.
The directions could have been issued to avoid unwarranted chaos in the coalition government. If the ‘Lokesh Deputy CM’ campaign gains momentum, it could create a rift between the Jana Sena and TDP, which could jeopardize the administration in the state.
In addition, the TDP authorities also directed the cadre not to raise and speak about unnecessary issues before the media.
Only identified and official representatives of the coalition parties would speak about sensitive and critical issues, the TDP high command told the party cadre.
Understandably, the above two decisions have been taken, to strengthen the stability of the government and also for the good of the people, said a TDP senior leader.
