AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has made a startling decision. The case of former IPS officer Aloori Bal Venkateshwara Rao (ABV), who was allegedly harassed during the YSCP rule and suspended for nearly five years, has created a stir in the state. ABV took the ‘suspension’ matter to court and also appealed to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), which provided him with some relief. However, the YSRCP government continued its efforts against him.
Despite the court’s orders appointing him as Director General of Printing and Stationery, ABV was suspended again for allegedly being negligent in his duties. He repeatedly requested a minimum salary to support his family, but these requests went unheard. Later, ahead of the state elections, all cases against ABV were dismissed by the courts. As a result, despite his last day in office being during the YSRCP’s tenure, he formally retired on that day.
After the formation of the coalition government, a key decision was made regarding ABV. Given that the cases filed against him during the YSRCP’s rule were dismissed, the government ordered that he be paid his full salary for the suspension period, along with other allowances. The finance department paid ABV an amount exceeding ₹50 lakh.
Now, CM Chandrababu Naidu has made another surprising move. He has offered the post of Chairman of the Police Housing Corporation to the retired officer. Orders have been issued for his appointment, with his term set to begin from February 1. The appointment will be for a period of two years, as specified in the official order.
Interestingly, several TDP leaders were vying for the post of Chairman of the Police Housing Corporation. In the past, senior TDP leader Nagul Meera from Vijayawada held the position. He, along with another former MLA from Krishna district who had relinquished his ticket in the last election, was also in the running for the post. Despite this, CM Chandrababu decided to appoint ABV to this significant position.
