YSR Congress and its president, YS Jagan were dealt with an unexpected shock in the form of the resignation of Vijay Sai Reddy. Sai Reddy’s resignation did not just mean that Jagan lost his right hand, but also YCP lost a Rajya Sabha MP in the Upper House.
Incidentally, nearly 3 weeks after the resignation of Sai Reddy, the media could finally get a reaction from Jagan on this matter. YS Jagan was fairly straightforward with his reaction to Sai Reddy’s resignation.
Jagan noted that every politician must have a character and credibility to proudly represent their leader. There is no point in getting pressurised to change political ideologies and shift sides.
“Character and credibility are important to live a straightforward political life. The same applies for Sai Reddy and the three other Raja Sabha MPs who left my party. The point to be noted, here is that power is not permanent in democracy. If you are able to hold on for five years, then your time will come.” Jagan said.
Jagan appeared to be of the implication that he was indeed moved by Sai Reddy’s resignation. He gave the implication that Sai Reddy did not show the right character and determination to be a good politician as he bowed to pressure.
People are commenting that Jagan is clearly affected by the resignation of Sai Reddy, and that is the reason why he had a set of harsh words when asked about this topic. Ideally, Jagan could have written it off as a personal choice of Sai Reddy and maintained dignity on this issue. But he preferred to speak about character and credibility, which must hit Sai Reddy where it hurts the most.
