Will Abusing Babu Help BRS? Lesson Not Learned Yet?

The last time BRS made fun of Chandrababu, they paid a hefty price—this is a fact. Back when Chandrababu was arrested by the Jagan government, KTR remarked that there was no need for protests in Telangana, as Babu’s arrest had no impact there. This statement seriously hurt the sentiments of settlers, and the aftereffects were felt in the Telangana elections. The impact was so significant that KTR later rectified his mistake and spoke highly of Babu.

However, it appears that not everyone associated with BRS has learned the right lesson from this incident. This is evident from a recent statement by BRS senior leader Jagadeeswar Reddy, who said that the then BRS government had “kicked and sent away Babu” during their tenure when it came to the Krishna water distribution issue.

“Babu ni thanni tharimesam,” Jagadeeswar Reddy said, while attempting to highlight KCR and the then BRS government’s aggressive stance in safeguarding Telangana’s interests in Krishna water distribution. This was an effort to portray KCR as strong and assertive during his 2014–2019 tenure when dealing with the Andhra Pradesh government, led by Babu.

However, the issue here is that this message could have been conveyed in a more amicable manner rather than using such foul language against the incumbent CM, Babu.

In reality, while Jagan’s government was abrasive with the Pothireddypadu project and diverted Krishna waters for Rayalaseema, BRS failed to raise a finger. But now, they have the audacity to claim that they controlled Babu, who was far more mature and amicable in handling the situation, according to some political analysts.

The trend here is that BRS repeatedly tries to target and abuse Babu in an attempt to stir sentiment against him. The last time they took this approach, they ended up losing the Telangana elections in 2023. However, going by Jagadeeswar Reddy’s latest comment, it appears the lesson is still not learned, remarked a neutral observer.
