The Pithapuram assembly constituency commands a lot of interest and attention in Andhra Pradesh politics, considering the fact that it is represented by deputy chief minister, Pawan Kalyan. Coming to the topic, the YSR Congress ecosystem in Pithapuram has been dealt with another shock with the departure of their senior leader, Pendem Dorababu today.
Dorababu was earlier with Jagan right from the 2014 election. He when the seat against SVSN Varma in 2019. However, he was conveniently ignored by Jagan in the 2024 election, as he silently gave the ticket to Vanga Geetha. Jagan felt she would be the right person to take on the fierce Pawan Kalyan.
Though Dorababu was take aback by Jagan’s decision, the YCP ecosystem somehow convinced him to work for YCP in 2024. This was a desperate attempt from YCP to somehow defeat Pawan Kalyan in the election. But this backfired horribly as Kalyan won the seat by a margin of 70K+ votes.
Cut to now, Pendem Dorababu who was virtually used and thrown by YCP has now delivered a shock to the party. He arrived at the Janasena head office today and met Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan.
Dorababu expressed interest in joining Janasena and the same was approved by Pawan Kalyan, as communicated by the Janasena social media wing. This essentially means that YCP lost yet another wicket in the Pithapuram assembly constituency. This addition of Dorababu wouldn’t just strengthen JanaSena but also further deplete the already wounded YCP.
