It is well known that AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu visited the national capital, Delhi, on Wednesday. During his visit, he held a series of meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. In these meetings, he not only discussed important issues related to the state but also presented detailed representations to the central ministers. An interesting aspect came to light during these discussions.
No matter which central minister Chandrababu met, he was never alone. He ensured that along with his party, leaders from alliance parties and MPs from those parties accompanied him. During the discussions with the central ministers, all of them were present and participated actively. Instead of just posing for photos and stepping out, they directly engaged in the meetings. It seems that there was a strategy behind this. Even if he is in Amaravati, the MPs and ministers from the alliance, who stay in Delhi, will have the chance to remind the central leaders about the issues when the right time comes. That’s why Chandrababu made sure that his party leaders were present in the meetings.
On the other hand, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who served as the CM of Andhra Pradesh for five years from 2019, has visited Delhi several times in his capacity as CM. During these visits, he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various central ministers. However, there is one noticeable thing — at no point during these meetings did Jagan have any of his party’s Lok Sabha members or even his most trusted YSRCP parliamentary leader, Vijay Sai Reddy, accompany him. Even though they may have accompanied him to the ministers’ residences, they did not participate in the meetings themselves. This led to accusations from the opposition that Jagan had been sidelined by BJP leaders. However, now with Chandrababu’s open approach, such criticisms no longer seem to have a place.
