The Pithapuram assembly constituency commanded the highest amount of attention in the recent Andhra Pradesh election. This seat appeared to be a sure shot one for TDP while its candidate SVSN Varma prepared a solid foundation for himself to sweep the segment.
However, Varma had to sacrifice this seat for Janasen president Pawan Kalyan as a part of the alliance seat sharing mechanism. Despite an early rebuke, Varma readily stood by the command issued by Chandrababu and fought for Pawan Kalyan in this constituency, thus playing a crucial role in Pawan’s remarkable 70K+ majority here. Even Kalyan himself acknowledged the efforts of Varma and paid top respect to him.
In this context, everyone thought Varma would rightly be rewarded for his sacrifice with an MLC post by TDP. In accordance, he appeared to be in top position to get the nominated MLC post in this year’s election. But due to the social engineering and caste equations, TDP couldn’t allocate the MLC post to Varma.
Today, Varma shared his first insight on not getting the MLC post on TDP’s behalf. “Our Peddaayana(Chandrababu) has a lot of permutations and combinations. It is not possible for him to ensure justice to everyone. But we can’t be gruntled by it. Our party will be in power for the next 15-20 years and we will be delivered adequate support. We can’t make a mess of this simple MLC election. We must be patient” Varma told his supporters.
It was very mature of Varma to pacify his supporters who are anguished with him, not getting the MLC post. He sounded confident about Chandrababu rewarding him for his efforts in the near future instead of making a mess of the situation now. This is the kind of composure and party-first approach that is always appreciated by Chandrababu, and we can expect him to fairly reward Varma for his maturity and TDP-first mechanism.
