Chandrababu Calls Out His Own Failures in 2004 & 2019 Poll Defeats

The Andhra Pradesh assembly sessions are nearing their end, and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is making the best use of the remaining time. Interestingly, today, the Chief Minister addressed a very crucial and significant point in the assembly house, as he took responsibility for his party’s defeats in the 2004 and 2019 elections.

Babu boldly stated that no one defeated him in the 2004 and 2019 elections, but rather, he himself was the reason behind the losses. He explained that his focus on government operations and party activities diverted the morale of the party cadre.

“It was my failure to lose the two elections in 2004 and 2019. I was fully occupied with my chief ministerial duties and could not coordinate effectively between MLAs and party cadres, which is the reason why we lost. This will be addressed in this term, and I will be present with the cadres at all times,” Babu said.

Babu further emphasized that his goal is clear: “If we can provide permanent solutions to public problems, then there will be no defeat in the elections. This is what we are working towards during this tenure.”

It takes a lot of courage for a sitting Chief Minister to take responsibility for electoral defeats in the past, and Chandrababu Naidu was man enough to do so in the assembly today.

While the YCP leadership continues to blame EVMs and the party cadre for the 2024 election defeat, CM Babu is proactively reflecting on the 2004 and 2019 defeats and accepting responsibility. This could be seen as a true example of “leading from the front.”

However, the challenge for Babu now is to walk the talk and stand by the cadres. Only then can the results of 2004 and 2019 be avoided in 2029, as demanded by a TDP activist.
