The seven hills and the holy shrine of Tirumala, are of cultural and historical significance to the Hindu community and have deeply rooted emotional value attached to the entire community.
However, the previous YCP government had done something extremely detrimental by allocating TTD lands adjacent to the Tirumala seven hills to a private hotel – Mumtaz Hotels.
Incidentally, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu reacted on this matter, while addressing the Media from Tirumala today. He was straightly upright with his affirmative stance as he announced that he is cancelling the contract that was earlier allocated to the Mumtaz hotel.
Babu expressed dismay over the fact that the previous board had the audacity to give away TTD land to private companies and moreover, Mumtaz Hotel near the priced Alipiri area.
“Permission was given to Mumtaz Hotel adjacent to the Seven Hills at that time by the previous board. But now, we are canceling the permission for the hotel in 35.32 acres. There should be no commercialization anywhere adjacent to the Seven Hills.” Babu said.
Babu further said the company proposed to have only vegetarian food in this hotel, but he was still firmly against this decision. He announced the cancellation of the agreement on the spot.
Earlier, a few Hindu groups had protested against the construction of this hotel near the secretary of Alipiri, which marks the start of the holy seven hits. This was also taken into account while the chief minister announced his decision in Tirumala today.
