The government of Telangana has taken this betting apps scenario very seriously. With IPS officer, Sajanar actively working on this case and the chief minister Revanth Reddy himself, saying in the assembly that there would be a huge crack down on such activities, certain affirmative actions are being taken now.
When this case came to a hearing at a sessions court in Hyderabad, the government lawyer stated that all these betting app cases to Special Investigations Team (SIT).
Notably, these cases were earlier filed at the Punjagutta Police station and also at the Miyapur Police Station. When these cases were moved to court, the government side lawyer instated that all these betting app cases that were filed against social media celebrities and also the likes of Rana and Vijay Deverakonda are shifted to SIT.
However, the point to be noted here is that Vijay Devarakonda and Rana had already made it very clear that they have all the legal credence to overthrow the cases against them. Their argument is that their ads were streamed a few years back and they aren’t popping now, which takes out relevance from the equation. Moreover; they’ve said they have the legal paperwork to strengthen their case.
This context, it has to be seen how the Special Investigation Team would take the case forward henceforth. It is these social media celebrities who directly endorsed illegal betting apps who might come under the radar.
