As mentioned by Janasena President, Pawan Kalyan, before the Andhra Pradesh election, it was of quintessential importance to form an alliance in order to bring down Jagan. Later on, regarding the logical and political matters associated with the alliance, the primary goal was clear: to bring down Jagan at any cost.
This goal was successfully achieved by the NDA alliance, and the otherwise dominant Jagan Mohan Reddy was sent home in the 2024 AP elections.
Incidentally, Kalyan spoke about this aspect recently at the Janasena plenary, stating that his party resurrected the four-decade-old Telugu Desam Party (TDP). When Pawan made this statement, it was met with resistance by the hardworking TDP cadres, as they felt that TDP, being a structurally strong political force with a history of four decades, should not rely on anyone for its existence.
However, the deputy chief minister revisited this point today, and he was very descriptive and affirmative in his response.
“I fully understand that me and my Jana Sena party do not have the individual strength to decide Andhra Pradesh politics. At a time when I do not have the individual strength to do something substantial, it is my responsibility to channelize my strength to help other capable political entities. This is the reason why I chose to support a triumphant man like Chandrababu. This was the best use of my resources and cadres,” Kalyan said.
Kalyan was spot on with his analysis on why he is supporting Chandrababu Naidu, and the implication is very clear: Kalyan values the state’s interests more than his own individual choices. It is evident that he wanted the collective alliance to bring down Jagan, rather than pursue glory on his own and contest single-handedly. This was a wise decision by Kalyan, and it has been appreciated multiple times by Chief Minister Babu.
