The much-awaited polls of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) are likely to be held on December 4, 2020. According to the officials of the civic body, the notification for the GHMCV polls would be released the next day after Deepavali festival. In the wake of these plans, the Election Commission has increased the momentum of the preparations for the polls.
It is being said that face recognition app would be brought into the use during the civic body polls.
The ruling TRS party has plans to conduct the Greater polls in the first week of December and there is a reason behind it.
In the recently concluded Dubbak bypolls, the TRS suffered defeat with a very narrow margin. Now, the party leaders want to hold the GHMC polls without having to face the Dubbak effect.
It is being learnt that the Election Commission would call for a meeting of all the political parties in the next few hours to discuss on the GHMC polls. Matters pertaining to conduct of polls, voter list, ward allocation would be deliberated at the meeting.
The Election Commission had already examined the polling centres and voters list. A training camp was also held for the staff to conduct the polls smoothly.
The EC would make preparations for the civic body polls following the Covid protocols.
Now, the TRS, which is considering the civic body polls prestigious, should gear up to ensure that the results of Dubbak bypolls do not repeat.
