It really needs to be set that the abusive and provocative culture on social media has hit the peak these days. Political warfare, which was largely confined to public mediums all the while has reached social space. This is the reason why we are seeing several abusive and morphed posts on social media, targeting politicians.
However, the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh took a strong stand against social media abuse. This was reinstated yesterday when a person who abused Jagan and Bharathi with controversial statements was immediately arrest arrested by Guntur police. The TDP ecosystem sent out a strong message by implying that they are ready to arrest their own party activists if they cross the line.
In this context, chief minister, Chandrababu addressed this topic again today, and he was very dismissive and affirmative with his statement.
“I have historically seen politics being used for the betterment of the society. But after this digital revolution and social media people are using these platforms for character assassination. I am issuing a strong warning on this now. If anyone tries to abuse women or assassinate others characters on social media, it will be their last day.” Chandra Babu said.
Babu is usually very calm and cool while addressing the public, but he appeared to be agitated while issuing the warning to social media abusers today.
In the meanwhile, TDP support system on social media is pushing their party high command to be equally aggressive while reprimanding YCP abusers, the same was they did with TDP activist in Guntur yesterday for abusing Bharathi. Considering Babu ‘s statement today , it appears that social media abuse is going to be dealt with an iron fist by the AP government.
