Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu’s persistent efforts are finally paying off. His dream capital, Amaravati, has now caught the attention of national media, making headlines across the country. This marks a significant political and strategic victory for Naidu.
Realistically, Naidu and his ministers could have simply launched the development works from Amaravati themselves, since the projects are not entirely new. But inviting Prime Minister Modi for the launch gave the event national importance, something that wouldn’t have been possible with just a state-level function.
When news broke that Chandrababu had invited Modi again—despite the PM already inaugurating Amaravati’s foundation in 2015—critics were quick to question the need. Even AP Congress chief Y.S. Sharmila attempted to stir political controversy over the matter. But Naidu didn’t pay attention to the noise. Instead, he stayed focused on getting the Prime Minister’s support.
He made multiple trips to Delhi just for this, personally meeting Modi and securing his presence. As a result, the national media not only covered the PM’s visit and the project launches but also highlighted Amaravati’s importance as the capital. That’s exactly what Naidu wanted—not just state-level attention, but national spotlight on Amaravati.
His aim was clear: bring Amaravati back into serious national discussion. That attention could pave the way for fresh investments and global recognition. Despite resistance, he convinced the Prime Minister to come onboard a second time, something not easily achieved. With that, Chandrababu has successfully placed Amaravati back on the national map—and this time, it’s not just symbolic, it’s strategic.
