The Telangana government is going full steam ahead with its investigation into the alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. There are serious claims that the quality of construction was compromised and that large-scale financial mismanagement took place during the tenure of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
To lead this inquiry, the state has set up a commission under the leadership of former Supreme Court Justice PC Ghose. The panel is now closely examining both financial and construction-related aspects of the project.
As part of this process, the commission has sent notices to KCR, asking him to appear before them on June 5. This summons has created a strong buzz in political circles, as many have been waiting to see whether the former Chief Minister will respond directly to the allegations.
Along with KCR, two other key figures from the BRS party have also received notices. One is Harish Rao, who served as the irrigation minister during the construction of the project. The other is Eatala Rajender, who held the post of finance minister at the time.
After the notices were issued, Harish Rao reportedly visited KCR at his farmhouse in Erravelli. Sources suggest that the two leaders discussed the latest developments related to the investigation as well as ongoing political challenges.
There is already speculation within the BRS about internal disagreements and possible realignments. Harish Rao’s meeting with KCR right after receiving the commission notice has only added to the political tension.
With increasing pressure from the government and the public, the big question remains. Will KCR finally appear before the commission and give his explanation? June 5 could be a very important day in this ongoing political battle.
