Even after one year of YSRCP losing power in Andhra Pradesh, former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy’s photo was still hanging in the Anantapur Zilla Parishad Chairperson’s chamber. This led to a tense situation on Wednesday when TDP MLAs visited the office.
During the Zilla Parishad general meeting, TDP MLAs Alimineni Surendra Babu, MS Raju, and Daggumati Venkateswara Prasad noticed that Jagan’s photo was still displayed, while the current CM Chandrababu Naidu’s photo was left aside near a storeroom. The MLAs questioned why the new CM’s photo hadn’t been placed yet, even after a year of the new government taking charge.
They got angry at the ZP officials for not updating the office with Chandrababu’s photo. Eventually, they removed Jagan’s photo and placed photos of Chandrababu Naidu and Mahatma Gandhi on the wall.
The current ZP Chairperson Girijamma from YSRCP had reportedly ignored requests to change the photo earlier. She had kept Babu’s photo aside and continued to display Jagan’s, despite the change in government. This sudden action by the TDP MLAs sparked a tense moment, but it ended with the proper photos finally being put up.
