Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was unanimously re-elected as the National President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) during the party’s annual Mahanadu convention held on Wednesday. This marks another chapter in Chandrababu’s long-standing leadership, which has now spanned over three decades.
Since taking over the party’s reins in 1995, Chandrababu has led TDP through various political phases, both in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh and in the bifurcated state. As per party rules, the position of National President is subject to elections every two years, with the Mahanadu platform serving as the official stage for this process.
The latest round of elections took place during the ongoing Mahanadu celebrations in Kadapa. On Tuesday, a formal notification was issued for the party president election. By Wednesday, senior TDP leader Varla Ramaiah announced that multiple senior leaders had endorsed Chandrababu’s candidacy, with no other nominations received for the top post.
During a grand and spirited ceremony attended by party leaders and supporters, Chandrababu took the oath of office once again. The re-election was a moment of pride for party cadres who hailed his leadership with cheers and applause.
If Chandrababu completes this new term, he will have served 32 years as the TDP’s National President — a record that highlights his enduring influence in regional and national politics. His leadership continues to command strong support within the party, with many crediting him for the TDP’s stability and revival.
