One of the infamous practices implemented by former chief minister YS Jagan was the three capitals proposal. The plan to destroy the Amaravati capital prospect did not pan out as expected as neither did YCP government enhance the existing capital, nor could they develop Vizag as the capital.
In the end, this child’s play with the most crucial capital prospect turned out to be hugely detrimental for YCP as the party got relegated from 151 seats to 11 seats. Andhra Pradesh people outrightly rejected this three capitals plan and it had very strong impact against the party.
After having faced a deadly shock with this issue, it appears that YSR Congress has started to turn its back on the capital plan.
Former minister Jogi Ramesh, who is one of the very few close individuals to Jagan in YSR Congress, revealed that in the next YCP regime Amaravati will be developed into a world class capital.
“We have clearly understood that the people are not approving three capitals proposal. So we have collectively decided to develop Amaravati as the capital. Next time, Jagan Will be the chief minister, we will build Amaravati full fledgedly.” Ramesh said.
This statement on Amaravati from former Cabinet minister Ramesh might come up as largely convenient, considering how the Amaravati prospect was brutally mauled by Jagan. Now all of a sudden, turning their back on the capital and saying Amaravati is going to be the capital might not bode well with YCP as they’ve already lost the trust of the masses.
