The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections have been announced. Telangana state election commissioner (SEC) Parthasarathi has called on the press on Tuesday morning and announced the election schedule i.e, the polling date is December 1st and the results (Counting) will be out on December 4th. Regarding the reservations, SEC stated that the state government has the authority to finalise the reservations and we are following as per the government orders.
“The State Election Commission has the authority to hold the polls before the term ends and as per GHMC Act 7, we have decided to conduct the elections. This time, the polling will be held through ballot vote and as per the 2016 reservations, the divisions are allotted to various communities,” said commissioner Parthasarathi.
There are a total of 74.04 Lakh voters in GHMC region while male voters form 52.09 percent and female voters are 47.90 percent. GHMC has 150 divisions spread across 18 circles. Mylardevpalli division has maximum voters with 79,290 while Ramachandrapuram has minimal voters with 27,997. Bansilalpet has highest number of female voters while Fatenagar has transgender voters.
From tomorrow the nominations will be accepted and the last date for filing nominations is November 20th. The nominations will be scrutinised on November 21st and the list of contesting candidates with election symbols will be finalised on November 22nd. The polling time has been extended and it will be held from morning 7 AM to evening 6 PM.
