Senior Sakshi journalist Krishnamraju was arrested by Tullur Police for his derogatory remarks on the women of Amaravati. The tainted journalist was arrested in Srikakulam on Wednesday evening and is being taken to Mangalagiri in Amaravati.
It’s well known that the AP Police have already arrested Sakshi journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao in connection with the same case. Kommineni was sent to 14-day judicial remand by a court in Mangalagiri.
A recent debate moderated by Kommineni Srinivasa Rao on the Sakshi TV channel has become the focal point of the controversy. During the debate, Krishnamraju stated that Amaravati has become a “prostitutes’ capital” under the Nara Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government.
Krishnamraju’s comments led to several intense protests by women across the state, who demanded an unconditional apology from Krishnamraju, Kommineni, and the Sakshi TV management.
Both Krishnamraju and Kommineni have been arrested based on the numerous complaints lodged against them with the Tullur Police in the AP capital region and several other police stations across the state.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson has taken suo motu cognizance of the derogatory comments made by both the senior journalists based on a complaint filed by TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu.
