Race Heats Up for AP BJP Chief Post!

The BJP high command has released a notification to appoint a new president for the Andhra Pradesh BJP unit, sparking interest and competition among party leaders. While the BJP has often picked leaders from Backward Classes (BC) in other states, both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh currently have leaders from Forward Castes (OC). There’s talk that the party might now choose a BC leader, although leaders from Kamma and Reddy communities are also in the race.

Current AP BJP President Daggubati Purandeswari played a key role in the alliance-building process ahead of the last elections. She was reportedly the main force behind convincing the BJP leadership to join hands with TDP and Jana Sena, despite her strong opposition to YSRCP. She managed to lead the party without major internal issues and maintained unity during her tenure, though she did face some criticism.

Now, the party leadership is preparing to bring in a new face. Among the top contenders are Sujana Chowdary, a senior leader and businessman from Vijayawada; Adinarayana Reddy from Kadapa; and Anakapalli MP C.M. Ramesh. However, there are no strong female leaders in the party currently to match Purandeswari’s experience, making it likely that a male leader will be selected.

RSS-backed leaders are also in the race, including former MLC Madhav from Uttarandhra, Vishnuvardhan Reddy from Kadapa, and Bhanu Prakash Reddy from Tirupati. These leaders have long ties with the BJP and RSS and are considered loyal to the party’s core ideology.

Whomever the BJP chooses will have a tough task ahead—strengthening the party, managing alliances, and upholding RSS principles. All eyes are now on the final decision.
