After its historic victory in the 2024 election, the Telugu Desam Party found renewed energy and momentum at the internal level. Naturally, this led to intense competition for nominated posts at the district level.
This was clearly evident during the recent Nandigama Market Committee election, which saw fierce internal rivalry within the TDP. The competition turned out to be so intense that it ended up benefitting the BJP more than the yellow party.
In a surprising turn of events, it is now evident that the BJP largely benefited from the internal conflict within the TDP leadership.
Interestingly, the Nandigama Market Committee Chairman post is considered nearly as prestigious as an MLA position. As expected, TDP leaders did everything they could to secure it.
However, poor coordination between TDP MP Kesineni Chinni and local MLA Sowmya led to a complete breakdown in strategy. This internal feud paved the way for the BJP to seize the opportunity and win the post.
The BJP has announced Pittala Sridevi as the new Market Committee Chairman for Nandigama, and the decision has already been communicated. The local BJP cadre is thrilled to have landed this unexpected victory.
Meanwhile, the BC community, which traditionally supported the TDP, had hoped to see their representative in this post. But due to TDP’s internal clashes, not only did they lose the seat, but the BJP ended up gaining from their loss.
