Telangana chief Minister Revanth Reddy has been rather agitated about the digital social media revolution that has been happening. In particular, he is least pleased with the kind of provocative and vindictive narratives that are spread on YouTube through multiple channels.
Addressing a conclave today, chief minister Revanth Reddy fired on certain YouTubers, who cross the line just for the sake of their Content.
“I feel like giving a tight slap to these YouTubers, who go to any extent to generate sensationalism and grab views. Back in the day, journalism was a very respectful profession, and we used to feel like sit and interact with senior journalists after a conference. But these days sensationalism is all over and YouTube channels are crossing the line every now and again.” Revanth Reddy said.
It can be noted that the chief minister had also pointed out earlier that he is considering ideas to restrict fake news, peddling on YouTube and other social platforms.
“People who don’t even know how to put pen on paper or calling themselves journalist these days. Everyone wants to express their vindictive opinion at the cost of others, privacy, and dignity. This trend must change soon” Revanth Reddy said.
The way in which Revanth Reddy conveyed, his message might be aggressive, but his real intention is to be understood here. It is a fact that several YouTube channels have been crossing the social barrier and presenting news at the expense of others privacy, and dignity. It has to be seen if Revanth Reddy can bring any new restrictions to confine the same.
