The ongoing tariff war with the United States president Donald Trump has pushed India to find new allies apart from the customary ones like Russia. On that note, India is now looking to rebuild the relationship with the neighbouring China and there is pretty significant development in this regard.
With the diplomatic relationship between the two countries, starting to see a positive term due to mutual understanding, for the first time in 5 years, India and China are set to resume direct flight operations.
The resumption of direct flights between India and China after nearly five years closely follows a significant diplomatic rehash after the 2020 Galwan Valley clash that killed 20 Indian and four Chinese soldiers. For the first time after 2020, both India and China are set to resume direct flight operations.
This move coincides with strained India-U.S. relations due to a 50% tariff imposed by President Trump on Indian goods in August, a penalty linked to India’s oil trade Russian oil, pushing India to realign with China.
It must also be noted that Prime Minister Modi is set to travel to China this month for a global summit, and this could further recite the lost rapport with the Chinese nation. China is also likely to improve the import and export relationship relationships with India in the due course.
It appears that the ongoing tariff situation with the United States is doing more good than bad to India by reigniting lost ties with other neighbouring countries.
