RRR Cites Constitution, Warns Jagan

Despite repeated reminders from the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Pulivendula MLA YS Jagan continues to remain absent from the House. The situation has now escalated to the point where Deputy Speaker Raghu Rama Krishna Raju (RRR) has warned Jagan of possible suspension from his MLA post.

After this reprimand, former CM Jagan questioned whether suspension was even possible for skipping assembly sessions for 60 days. He appeared dismissive of the warning, citing historical precedents.

However, RRR has now backed his warning with constitutional evidence. He explained that the Constitution clearly states that a member of the Assembly or Parliament can be suspended if he or she fails to attend the House for 60 consecutive days without submitting a leave of absence. He cited Article 190(4) of the Indian Constitution to drive home his point.

RRR further noted that the Rules of Conduct and Procedure of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly also echo the same principle under Section 187(2).

With such legal backing, RRR has made it clear that Jagan’s continued absenteeism could indeed lead to suspension from the Assembly.
