One of the most infamous financial allegations in the irrigation sector in Telangana is the Kaleshwaram scam that is levelled against the previous KCR government. Crucial members of the previous administration including KCR, Harish Rao and multiple IAS officers are named in the same.
One of the IAS officers who faced serious allegations of business misconduct is Smitha Sabharwal, according to the Ghose committee report.
The report stated that the female IAS officer didn’t carry out the crucial process of feedback collection, and presentation of instrumental factual data in front of the cabinet.
However, Smitha was not in approval of this report and she moved the Telangana High Court on this matter. In her quash petition, she stated that the Ghose committee report is arbitrary as she was not provided with a chance to present her side of the argument.
In this context, the Telangana High Court instructed the government, not to take any action against Smitha based on the Ghose committee report.
Smita argued that she did not have any decision-making powers in the execution of the Kaleshwaram Project nor was she given any administrative responsibility. This was partially acknowledged by the court and it was instructed that no action can be taken against her immediately. The next hearing has been posted to October 7.
