It is an established fact that Telangana is one of the biggest consumers of liquor, not just in South India, but all across the country. This was again on display during the Dasara season, which is famous for liquor and meat consumption in the state.
In just three days (September 29-October 1), Telangana sold liquor worth ₹697 crore. This is reportedly nearly 80% higher than the tally from last Dasara. It is safe to say that the liquor box offices were smashed by liquor lovers in the state.
Interestingly enough, October 2, which happens to be the main day of Dasara festival coincided with Mahatma Gandhi, and subsequently the liquor shops were shut down. This also partially took a toll on the liquor sales.
However, the liquor consumers in the state were very attentive and they grabbed ahold of liquor bottles previous day, October 1 itself. As a result, the state recorded massive sales in September which amounts to Rs 3048 crore.
It is safe to say that Telangana celebrated a wild Dasara with insane amount of liquor consumption which is a part of the cultural festivities here in the state. But
