AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, who is moving ahead with his ambitious Vision 2047 for Andhra Pradesh, is giving strong emphasis to attracting large-scale investments into the state. As part of this initiative, he has been showcasing Andhra Pradesh’s vast potential and inviting major global companies to invest.
In a significant development, the Russian government-owned energy giant Gazprom has expressed keen interest in investing in Andhra Pradesh. The company is reportedly planning a massive LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) terminal project in Kakinada, focusing on the coastal region’s growth and expanding its global business operations.
According to official sources, Gazprom intends to set up the LNG terminal in collaboration with Kakinada Seaports Limited, with a capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum. The proposed project, estimated to cost around ₹6,000 crore, is expected to become a major milestone in the state’s industrial development.
Reports suggest that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has already given an initial green signal to the project. A series of high-level meetings are expected to take place in New Delhi this week, involving representatives from the Andhra Pradesh government, Kakinada Seaports, Gazprom, and the Russian Federation Embassy to finalize the agreement.
Gazprom is one of the leading players in Russia’s power and energy sector, and its proposed entry into Andhra Pradesh marks a significant boost to India-Russia economic collaboration. With growing strategic ties between the two nations, Gazprom’s plan to invest in India’s port and gas infrastructure projects aligns with its broader global expansion strategy and Andhra Pradesh appears to be its chosen destination for this new chapter.
