The government of Telangana has sustained a shocker from the high court with regard to the upcoming local body elections. The High Court has imposed a stay order on the GO 9 that was passed earlier.
Earlier, the Telangana government passed a new order numbered 9 and it granted 42% reservation to the BC community in the upcoming local body election.
However, a petition was filed against this GO and it came to hearing at the Telangana HC today. The court had passed a detrimental judgement in this regard and made it clear that the GO 9 must not be implemented in the coming election.
The local body elections have also been postponed till further notice while the government has been instructed to file a counter in 4 weeks time.
This dejection is the last thing that the Telangana government would’ve wanted at this point in time, while the administration is raring to sweep the local polls and strengthen Revanth Reddy’s position of power.
