One of the ambitious implementation is done by the Revanth Reddy government in Telangana is the uplifting of the existing preservation to 42% in favor of the BC community. This elevates the overall reservation quota in the local body elections to 67%.
The High Court had already imposed an order on this reservation bill and asked you to delay the local body elections till further notice.
The Revanth Reddy Government approached the Supreme Court challenging this order issued by the High Court. This case came into a hearing at the Supreme Court, a short while back, and the verdict is not in favour of the Telangana government.
The Supreme Court dismissed this challenge petition and pointed out that the High Court will adjudicate this matter on its own merit and the apex court will not involve with the same.
This dismissal at the Supreme Court will essentially mean that the order issued by the High Court will stay relevant, and there is nothing that the Telangana government can do with regard to elevated reservation.
