Andhra Pradesh IT Minister, Lokesh is already to be credited for the enhanced Cricket experience at Vizag Stadium, which is now witnessing IPL and international cricket. It appears that location is not done with the job yet as he is seeking more data and input on this matter.
Incidentally, Lokesh arrived at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground MCG earlier today and had a debriefing on the cricketing operations and financial matters here.
The MCG officials and Lokesh discussed how India can build world-class arenas that work 365 days a year. Officials from Cricket Victoria walked them through their year-round revenue mode. Lokesh was reportedly was amazed to learn they have multiple convention and banquet facilities that remain occupied year-long even if there’s no activity on the field.
The MCG precinct alone contributes over A$1.3B annually in tourism and taxes to Victoria. Our roadmap: partner with Andhra cricket, set up high-performance academies, and accelerate the Sports City in Amaravati, Lokesh stated.
Lokesh has now invited the iconic MCG to partner with Andhra Cricket, and if this materialises, there could be some significant developments in branding Amravati as the sports city. It looks like some big news is loading very soon.
