YCP’s Fake Campaign On Bus Tragedy: AP Police In Action

Trying to project every unfortunate incident including accidents and natural disasters as a failure of the ruling dispensation only to gain mileage out of them in the public is a part of YSR Congress party’s playbook for many years now. Even if there is no iota of evidence to support their claims, YCP leaders and supporters keep on peddling fake news and false theories on the ruling government just to grab the attention of the public.

Recently, a Bengaluru bound bus travelling from Hyderabad caught fire due to collision with a bike, resulting in a deadly inferno and leading to the death of 19 individuals. While forensic reports and preliminary investigation suggested that the blaze that sparked when the bus rammed into the bike caused the accident, YSRCP quickly resorted to a malafide campaign trying to hold the NDA government led by Chandrababu Naidu responsible for the mishap.

While the CCTV footage and initial evidences conveyed that the biker and his friend were driving under the influence of alcohol at a high speed, YSRCP tried to portray it as a government failure by spreading the narrative that illicit liquor and belt shops were the reasons for the gory accident.

Though the narrative did not gain any traction due to lack of any firm evidence and also because of the fact that the government has been adopting a zero tolerance policy towards spurious liquor and unauthorised sale, there has been widespread criticism against YSRCP for stooping so low in an attempt to gain some benefit out of the accident. Some social media users including official representatives of YSRCP are involved in this fake campaign.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh police have reportedly booked 27 people affiliated to YSRCP including official spokesperson Are Syamala and the official X handle of the party. Based on a complaint filed by a person in Kurnool, cases under sections of Communal Hate and Public Mischief were booked against these 27 persons and further investigation is currently underway. From the past few days, many of them have been trying to mislead the public with unsubstantiated claims.
