Andhra Pradesh is moving fast in renewable energy. Brookfield has received ₹7,500 crore funding from the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) to build a large green power project in Kurnool. The project will produce 1,040 MW of power using both wind and solar energy and is one of the biggest private renewable projects in India.
The project will be handled by Evren, a company formed by Brookfield and Axis Energy. Evren also plans to develop more green projects in Kurnool and Anantapur as part of Brookfield’s 8,000 MW clean energy plan for Andhra Pradesh, worth around ₹50,000 crore.
This comes after Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh met Brookfield Global President Connor Teskey in London to discuss renewable energy and data center projects.
Brookfield is one of the biggest global investors in clean energy, with a strong presence in renewable power, infrastructure, and data centers.
Experts say the new project is special because it mixes wind, solar, and battery storage to give power without breaks, even when weather changes. This will help Andhra Pradesh improve power supply and grid stability.
Minister Nara Lokesh said the state is becoming India’s renewable energy hub. He added that such projects will create jobs, attract investors, and strengthen the state’s energy system.
With this project, Andhra Pradesh is once again proving why it is known as the Sunrise State — a place for fast growth and global investment.
