₹1,700 Cr Solar Project Moved from Telangana To AP

In a major development for the renewable energy sector, Premier Energies, one of India’s leading solar cell and module manufacturers, has decided to shift its massive solar project from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh. The company will invest ₹1,700 crore to set up a large-scale solar manufacturing facility in Naidupeta Industrial Park, Nellore district.

The upcoming facility will include a 4 GW TOPCon solar PV cell manufacturing unit and an additional 5 GW silicon ingot and wafer production plant. This major move highlights Andhra Pradesh’s growing reputation as a business-friendly state with strong industrial policies and fast execution.

Reports suggest that the AP government played a key role in facilitating the move. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) quickly allocated 269 acres of land to Premier Energies within a few months. Discussions began in October 2024, and by February 2025, the land was officially allotted.

Proximity to major seaports and the state’s attractive industrial incentives are said to be the main reasons behind the relocation. The project is expected to generate direct employment for around 2,000 people, with many more indirect job opportunities in the coming years as the plant expands.

With this investment, Andhra Pradesh is poised to become a key hub for solar manufacturing in India. The project will not only boost the state’s renewable energy ambitions but also strengthen its industrial growth and overall economy.

Premier Energies, the second-largest integrated solar cell and module manufacturer in India, also plans to expand its production capacity to 7 GW, with an additional ₹502 crore investment in the future. The company’s integrated approach combining silicon ingot, wafer, and cell manufacturing at one location reflects its long-term strategy to achieve backward integration and efficiency.

Favorable policies, infrastructure, and the state’s focus on renewable energy have made Andhra Pradesh an attractive destination for clean energy investors. This relocation marks another significant step forward in the state’s journey toward becoming a national leader in renewable energy production and green industrial growth.
