Over the last few months, Nara Lokesh has been one of the most debated names in South Indian politics, or perhaps even Indian politics. This started when he started to aggressively pitch Andhra Pradesh to leading companies over neighbouring states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
It had reached a point where certain politicians and business heads in Karnataka grew jealous of Lokesh’s aspirations and tried to get into a tug of war.
In his latest interaction with leading national media channel, Lokesh was asked this question about the constant rivalry with other neighbouring states and he had a perfect reaction.
“All I am trying to do here is pitch my state, Andhra Pradesh to the global Arena. It is never wrong for me to fight for my state with everything I got. If states fight, it’s India that is going to ultimately win. I want healthy competition between states for progress and development.” Lokesh said.
Lokesh further added that he holds nothing against Karnataka or Tamil Nadu, and neither with brothers and sisters in Telangana. “This is all very professional, as each Indian state must compete with the others for development, and only then can we ensure collective growth.”
While certain parties might be looking to politicise this issue, Lokesh had a perfect explanation to the same as he confidently revealed this is all in fighting spirit to develop the states, but not to create conflict at bilateral relations level.
