The Ramoji Excellence Awards event in Hyderabad brought together two Telugu Chief Ministers, Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy, who both spoke emotionally and respectfully about the late media legend Ramoji Rao. Their speeches highlighted the character, discipline, and moral strength that defined Ramoji’s life.
“He Never Asked Me for a Single Favor,” says Chandrababu
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu recalled Ramoji Rao as one of the most powerful and principled personalities he had ever met.
He said that Ramoji had the influence to move mountains with just one phone call, yet he never once asked for any personal favor.
“Ramoji Rao had immense power and reach, but he never misused it. He could get things done with ease, yet he never asked me or anyone else for anything. His dedication was always to the public, not to personal gain,” Chandrababu said.
He also mentioned that when the opposition in Andhra Pradesh became weak, Ramoji stepped in and played the role of a moral opposition through his media house, fighting for public issues without fear.
Revanth Reddy Shares a Personal Memory
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy added a humorous yet heartfelt touch to the evening by sharing a memorable incident from 2009.
He recalled visiting Ramoji Rao along with colleagues before the united Andhra Pradesh election results, hoping to get his recommendation for a cabinet post in Chandrababu’s government.
“We went to meet him expecting that he would support us in getting ministries. Without even speaking to us, he understood why we had come,” Revanth said, drawing laughter from the audience.
Ramoji immediately corrected them, saying he had never recommended anyone for a minister post and that real political growth comes through service as an MLA, not through chasing portfolios. Revanth said this advice stayed with him and shaped his political maturity.
A Legacy That Lives On
Both Chief Ministers described Ramoji Rao as a rare personality whose influence came from integrity, discipline, and commitment rather than power. His contributions to Telugu media, cinema, business, and public life continue to inspire millions.
The event served not only as a tribute to Ramoji but also a reminder of the values he upheld, values that both Chandrababu and Revanth praised with deep respect.
