The previous government under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy targeted individuals who pointed out its inefficiencies in the public. Even government servants who raised a banner of revolt for a genuine cause were not spared. One such case was that of a police constable who protested against Jagan Mohan Reddy’s regime for not releasing the pending dues to the police department.
AR Constable Prakash was removed from service over disciplinary action for violating service rules when he staged a protest during Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Satya Sai District. Prakash requested the government to release funds for settlement of dues to 70,000 police personnel by the then government. His protest quickly gained widespread attention and drew the ire of public over government’s inaction towards clearing pending dues.
Instead of looking into his request, the government started targeting the constable and framed several charges on him for violating service rules. After ordering inquiry, Prakash was forcefully removed from his job on disciplinary grounds. This action triggered a huge uproar on the government at that time. However, there was no change in the decision.
Now, after three years, Prakash has been reinstated back to service by the current government after dropping all charges on him. Andhra Pradesh DGP released orders to this effect on Monday morning. Prakash immediately reported to Anantapur SP office and took charge of his duties. He extended gratitude to Andhra Pradesh government and higher officials for delivering justice to him and taking back into service.
