Why CM Naidu Has Stopped Eating Rice?

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu received encomiums from several prominent and influential leaders for his vision and ambition to keep Andhra Pradesh in the front row. He is not only a visionary but also committed to serving the people. This fact came to light during a Praja Vedika programme held at Nallajarla.

During the ‘Rythanna Meekosam’ Praja Vedika programme, Naidu revealed that he does not consume rice, to keep diabetes at bay. Diabetes is the gateway for diseases, he said.

In the past, rice used to be the staple diet of the people in East and West Godavari districts. In Rayalaseema, people consumed only jowar and ragi. As long as they consumed millets, they never had diabetes but now, people in Rayalaseema are also getting diabetes, after switching to rice.

People in Rayalaseema are also prone to diabetes like those in East and West Godavari districts. Eating habits have changed. “I too don’t consume rice. If I am healthy, I can do more tasks.”

“If your blood starts showing diabetic symptoms, then you will slowly start having other diseases. Kidneys might fail. Diabetes is the first among the top 10 diseases that could have a serious effect on health. Hypertension is the next lifestyle disease that could crumble one’s health,” he said.

He revealed that the government would soon introduce Sanjeevani app which would keep track of the people’s health and suggest suitable medicines for their health and wellbeing.

Health experts also suggest that consuming less rice would keep many diseases at bay. After reaching a certain age, consumption of rice needs to be reduced to stay healthy, they said.
