Janasena Minister Clarifies Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Konaseema’ Comment

Janasena MLA and Andhra Pradesh Tourism and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh issued a detailed clarification on the ongoing controversy with Telangana leaders who have been demanding an apology from Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan over his comments on Konaseema region.

A couple of days ago, Janasena has officially released a press note that Pawan Kalyan’s statements were twisted on purpose only to create some political unrest as the controversy continues to simmer.

Now, Kandula Durgesh once again reiterated that Pawan Kalyan made those comments on a lighter vein just as a superstitious proverb which is quite common as part of rural tradition and local jargon in both Telugu states. He asserted that Pawan Kalyan never showed any disrespect towards Telangana and always came forward to show his generosity when the state witnessed even small natural calamities.

Durgesh also stated that Pawan Kalyan encourages many artists in Telangana through his films and pointed that Janasena party has its presence in both states. He requested to put an end to this needless controversy as Janasena already gave clarification on the issue through press release. During his recent political visit, the Janasena supremo inadvertently remarked that the coconut grooves in Konaseema region were suffering due to the evil eye ( disthi in Telugu) as Telangana leaders always talks about it’s Greenery and opined that the prosperity of Godavari districts led to the bifurcation of Telugu states.

A few days after Pawan’s comments went viral, some leaders of the ruling Congress party in Telangana started criticising him, demanding a public apology to the people of the state. Even Revanth Reddy’s Cabinet Minister Komatireddy Venkatareddy also joined them and threatened to ban Pawan Kalyan’s film unless he takes back his statements.

With Kandula Durgesh also reaffirming Janasena’s stand on this issue, it remains to be seen how Telangana leaders react now.
