TDP senior leader and MLA Somireddy strongly criticised Jagan Mohan Reddy for his remarks on the Tirumala Srivari Hundi, saying no leader should speak arrogantly about something that millions of devotees consider sacred.
He said Jagan’s comments hurt the sentiments of Hindus and demanded that he offer a public apology. Somireddy questioned how anyone could speak lightly about Srivari Hundi, where devotees place their offerings with complete faith. According to him, millions donate their jewellery and valuables out of devotion, not for anyone to belittle.
Somireddy accused Jagan of showing the same arrogance he displayed during the Parakamani theft issue. He said people will not forgive statements that appear to justify or downplay acts involving temple wealth. Even taking a single rupee from Srivari Hundi is considered a serious wrong, he said, and calling such incidents “small matters” is unacceptable.
He added that the mistakes Jagan committed as Chief Minister regarding temple affairs have now turned into setbacks for him in public life. Despite this, Somireddy said, Jagan continues to act with the same attitude.
He concluded that matters related to God should be spoken about with humility and that believers of every religion in YSRCP would also not support disrespect towards another faith.
