Ahead of the prestigious ‘Telangana Rising Global Summit’ in Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s ambitious Future City, the government has proposed to name the road leading into the US Consulate Office in Hyderabad after US president Donald Trump. This move, if accepted, is likely to grab global attention for sure because for the first time outside USA, a sitting president will be honoured with such a gesture.
Revanth Reddy announced that his government is mulling to come up with distinct names to various notable landmarks across Hyderabad to offer a befitting tribute to globally influential figures who act as an inspiration to commuters and also to push the brand image of city further towards global recognition.
Not just to renowned personalities, the state government is also in plans to extend the naming spree towards global institutions like Google, Wipro and Microsoft. Catchy names like Google Street, Wipro Junction and Microsoft Road are proposed under this initiative.
The state has also resolved to name the 100-meter Greenfield Radial Road, linking the Nehru Outer Ring Road at Raviryala to the proposed Future City, after Padma Bhushan Ratan Tata. The Raviryala interchange has already been designated the “Tata Interchange”.
Coming to the proposal for renaming the US consulate road as Donald Trump’s Avenue, the state government will soon write to the Union Ministry of External Affairs and the US Embassy to get prior approval.
Earlier this year, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, while addressing the annual US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) conclave in Delhi, had proposed naming important roads in Hyderabad after leading global corporations. His government is finally putting his words into action ahead of the global summit.
