Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is back with a bang as his latest film Dhurandhar is performing extremely well at the box office after its release last Friday. Despite its protracted runtime and some drawbacks in the narrative, the film is minting strong revenues during the first weekend, thanks to the stellar performance of Ranveer Singh.
After seeing the trailers and teasers, many expected that Ranveer Singh would pack a solid punch with his act in this gangster saga and dominate the entire cast. But, it is Akshaye Khanna who equally stole the limelight with his acting masterclass. As Rehman Dakait, a ruthless and notorious gangster, Akshaye Khanna delivered a power packed performance, which literally can be termed as an ‘came out of the syllabus’ from critics and audience point of view.
Akshaye Khanna’s intensity as a dreaded gangster is one of the biggest selling points for Dhurandhar. There is no exaggeration in saying that the Taal actor has nearly overshadowed Ranveer Singh in this film with his terrifying and impactful screen presence. He is currently the talk of the town in Bollywood.
Interestingly, the reception for Akshaye Khanna’s performance in Dhurandhar is likely to have a ripple effect on Prasanth Varma’s pan-India film Mahakali, directed by Puja Kolluru, in which he plays the curious character of Asuraguru Shukracharya.
After Hanu-Man emerged as runaway blockbuster across North India, Prasanth Varma’s upcoming mythological films in his cinematic universe are generating strong buzz all over North India. Mahakali is one among those films with good hype. Akshaye Khanna’s striking look from Mahakali has evoked a phenomenal response.
With Dhurandhar, Akshaye Khanna grabbed the attention of everyone. Now, many are rooting for his upcoming films and Mahakali is likely to create more buzz all over Bollywood because of the genre.
