Naidu Warns Spokespersons After Controversial TV Debate

A heedless remark made by an official spokesperson of Telugu Desam Party, during a live debate on Republic TV with editor in chief Arnab Gosami over Indigo crisis a few days has resulted in unnecessary trolling and backlash besides becoming a talking point in media and political circles all over the country. 

Spokesperson tried to portray that Nara Lokesh was monitoring the ongoing Indigo crisis and a control room was set up for this matter. Arnab quickly launched a scathing attack and questioned spokesperson on how is Lokesh related to the aviation crisis and in what way will he be able to resolve it as the issue pertains to central government. 

Though it was a slip-up of tongue from Deepak in the heat of the moment, it tarnished the image of TDP at national level among the public. Moreover, he tried to defend his remarks and even lashed out at Arnab in his next media interaction with a Telugu news channel. This has snowballed into a major controversy. 

Taking this matter on a serious note, Chief Minister and TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu expressed displeasure on the needless comments made by Deepak Reddy. Naidu pointed that Republic TV has always been supportive to TDP over the years and it is unnecessary to invite conflict with such news channels. 

Chandrababu also flayed at the partymen during his meeting with official spokespersons on Thursday for not bringing the matter to his notice before it turned into a full-blown controversy. He remarked that the debate should have ended after the goof-up instead of making it more controversial. He also pulled up the spokesperson for joining the debates without complete knowledge and preparation of the issues. 

Chandrababu also asserted that the misunderstanding with the TV channel must have been cleared immediately without raking up any further controversy. He warned that official spokespersons should be cautious while handling media interactions and must not cross the line which will bring disgrace to the party.
