The Telangana electoral scene is going to witness a significant development in the form of the ongoing Panchayat elections which are progressing on a very smooth note.
Coming to the statistical side of things, it needs to be understood that the verdict that is being delivered by the rural folk in the state is very suggestive of the political scenario in Telangana.
What is evident is that the ruling Congress party is significantly ahead of its competitors BRS and BJP, which are largely confined to 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Congress- 4538
BRS- 2342
BJP- 445
Independents- 1152
The numbers are indicating that Congress candidates are nearly at double as that of the next competitor, BRS, and this could be an education of the incumbent political scenario as well. Chief minister Revanth Reddy appears to have held the public mandate on his side even after a couple of years since the election.
And at the same time, the BRS, which was absolutely clueless in the MP elections is still holding its ground as it is still the second strongest party in Telangana. BJP is a distant third and has barely 10% of the rural strength as that of Congress.
The numbers are suggesting that the rural population in Telangana is clearly with the Congress party still, and this is going to be the main strength of the Revanth Reddy party as well. BRS has a lot of catching up to do here, but will be confident of gaining ground in the urban segment before the next election.
