It has been a long time since TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu played an active role in Telangana politics. Despite this, his name continues to surface regularly in political debates within the state. Former Telangana chief minister KCR, in particular, often brings up Chandrababu Naidu and rarely misses a chance to criticise him.
Once again, KCR referred to Chandrababu Naidu while speaking to the Telangana media today. The remark came while he was targeting the current Congress government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
KCR alleged that Revanth Reddy was signing MoUs in large numbers and suggested that this habit was learnt from Chandrababu Naidu. He recalled the period after 2014, when Chandrababu became the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, claiming that MoUs worth several lakh crore rupees were signed but failed to translate into real investments. KCR went on to say that many of those MoUs were meant only to create publicity rather than deliver actual results.
These comments have drawn reactions, especially from TDP supporters. They argue that Andhra Pradesh is currently witnessing strong investment momentum under Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, with major companies such as Google, Infosys, and TCS showing interest and making commitments.
Supporters also point out that Chandrababu Naidu rarely makes personal remarks against KCR or other leaders. In contrast, they say KCR often invokes Chandrababu’s name whenever he needs a political talking point.
Many observers feel that Chandrababu Naidu’s continued relevance, even outside Telangana politics, is the reason his name keeps appearing in state level discussions. They believe that his political stature ensures that even leaders who are not directly competing with him still find it necessary to mention him to stay in the spotlight.
