Andhra Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker and TDP MLA Raghurama Krishna Raju has expressed dissatisfaction over the slow progress in the custodial torture case linked to his arrest during the previous YSRCP government.
Raghurama, who was detained between 2019 and 2024 as a rebel MP, had alleged that he was subjected to custodial torture after being booked in a sedition case by the CID. Former AP CID chief and IPS officer PV Sunil Kumar is the prime accused in the case, and Raghurama has been pursuing legal action against him.
Speaking to the media, Raghurama said that despite questioning Sunil Kumar for several hours recently, investigators have not been able to move the case forward. He questioned why there has been no decisive action even after a long gap, stating that the delay sends the wrong signal to the public.
He clarified that the lack of progress does not personally affect him, but warned that it could damage the credibility of the government and weaken public trust in governance and the police system. Raghurama said justice must be delivered quickly to reassure citizens that the rule of law is functioning.
Raghurama’s remarks have triggered political discussion, with attention now turning to how the government will respond in the coming days.
